When we think about success or achievement, we tend to think about it in terms of it coming as a result of one big act of bravery or hard work or something along those lines a singular act. And in reality, that is never the case.
Success or achievement in any aspect of your life requires small, incremental changes over time. That big change that we consider when we think about success, or achievement, is usually the last push; or it is a combination of little steps taken along the way. It is never one big step. It just doesn’t work that way.
If you want to lose weight and get in better shape then you take little steps; you improve your diet, you exercise more, and so on. You don’t do one thing, and then you’re done. If only that were the case, eh? It doesn’t work that way and it never has.
You do lots of little things. And you do them every day. With the same is true in any other aspect as well.
So if you think about your business – if you want to achieve success in your business, then it requires you to take lots of little steps and repeat them every single day.
With success there is no one thing that you can do no secret, no hack, no shortcut you can take.
There never is. It just doesn’t work that way, life doesn’t work that way. And as human beings, we don’t work that way.
Big changes are exhausting, and they are not sustainable. They are something that causes a great deal of problems. Whereas small, incremental changes over time, that is something that we can turn into a sustainable activity.
That is something that can be replicated over and over and over again. That is something that is actually doable and functional. And, it’s something that you can live with and recover from as well. That matters too.
If you can’t sustain the activity, if there really was one thing that you could do, one big thing that you could do that would make you a success in some aspect of your life, then you wouldn’t be able to enjoy that success because you’d be absolutely exhausted and overwhelmed after the fact.
Success is a compound effect, a cumulative effect, something that happens as a result of small incremental changes over time.
So when you are plodding along, and you’re doing your thing over and over and over again, remember that. When you take your little steps and you start to feel disheartened, because you feel like nothing’s happening it’s important that you recognise that something is happening. Those little changes that you’re making, little things that you’re doing, they’re adding up to a big positive change in your life.
But the same is true for negative as well. You need to be careful about the choices that you make because each little negative choice that you make adds up to a really big negative change in your life and you don’t want that.
Make sure that the power of that compound effect, that cumulative effect, is used for good. For something positive in your life, whether that be your health, your relationships, your business, or whatever it may be. Make sure you use that power. and it is power, make sure you use that power sensibly for good.
Another good lesson for success is to be more self aware
Check out this post I wrote on that specific topic, it’ll shed some light on a simplistic subject that all the gooroos make sound like it is difficult or mystical (fuck those guys) https://mybizacademy.co.uk/be-more-self-aware-its-not-hard
